Just thought I’d tell you, we’ve got 72 days left of the year 2022. What does that mean? Nothing at all, but if you’re planning on writing down some New Years resolutions now would be a good time to start 😄

As we should all know at this point, this month’s theme is communication. Last week, we spoke about listening, and I hope you’ve kept your ear to the ground since. So today, we’re focusing on a skill we also use every day of our lives, from WhatsApp, to completing essays or whenever you send a friendly email to the team at Jobox.

Written Communication.

So, what is written communication? Well, it involves expressing yourself clearly, and using language with precision whilst constructing logical arguments. Basically meaning, just make sense. Now, I could write a whole book on this, but we’ll just focus on the basics. Here, are the three main elements of written communication.

  1. Structure – This is the foundation your words are built on, just like the story of the 3 little pigs, a house built on a strong foundation can’t be blown away and your words should be treated in the same manner.
  2. Style – How you write something matters a lot, from elegance to lucidity it all matters. So treat it like it does.
  3. Content – Garbage in garbage out, make sure you’re providing value, and that your content is positive and constructive.

Now, these are just 3 basic tips, and there’s so much more to learn, but if I told you everything you wouldn’t need me anymore. Besides, as the saying goes, how do you eat an elephant? One bit at a time.

Keep coming back for more though, I’ve got more chunks to feed you (see what I did there).

So without further ado, here’s another instalment of Better Yourself Friday

Let’s Gerrit!
